Annie Duong, O.D.
dry eyes, myopia management
Dr. Annie Duong was born and raised in San Jose, California. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology with honors from UCLA before returning to the Bay Area to complete her Doctor of Optometry degree at the UC Berkeley School of Optometry, where she was a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Society. Dr. Annie’s passion for optometry began at just eight years old when she failed her school vision screening and received her first pair of glasses. That experience showed her the importance of regular eye exams and early detection, which sparked her lifelong interest in pediatric eye care and myopia management. While at UC Berkeley, Dr. Annie participated in vision screenings at elementary schools throughout the Bay Area, helping to identify visual disorders in school-aged children. She gained extensive experience managing myopia using atropine therapy, MiSight contact lenses (FDA-approved for myopia control), and Paragon CRT (Ortho-K) lenses. After graduation, she pursued additional certification to fit Paragon CRT lenses and continues to stay current with new innovations in myopia management to better care for her young patients.
During her clinical training, Dr. Annie also developed a strong foundation in ocular disease management. She completed multiple rotations with the Department of Veterans Affairs in San Jose and Monterey, where she cared for a high volume of patients with conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and age-related macular degeneration.
Dr. Annie also has a special interest in dry eye management and ocular aesthetics. Her curiosity for skincare led her to explore novel treatments such as Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) therapy, which she continues to use at Almaden Eyes to help patients achieve lasting relief from dry eye symptoms and improve their overall comfort and confidence.
Outside of the office, Dr. Annie enjoys pilates, trying new boba spots, and spending time with her husband and pets. She is bilingual in Vietnamese and values connecting with patients from diverse backgrounds to provide personalized and compassionate care.
